Johnny Apple Seed and Shapes Party

While we have been learning our shapes, we have also been making a Shapes train by adding a different shapes car to the train each day. now that we have finished our shapes train, each child received their very own box car to paint shapes onto. Afterwards we played a Fun Game called "Ticket to Ride" We sang Down by the station, a shape was called out by the conductor, if you had a ticket with that shape on it, you may board the train. It was a lot of fun, especially because Miss Janalynn had a real train whistle.

We also read a fun story about Johnny Chapman, and how he was nicked named "Johnny Appleseed" we made Apple Crisp, and pots for our heads. We practiced printing our name onto the apple, and took home our apples that were on our preschool tree, so we can practice printing our name with a washable marker at home.

Apples, Apples, Apples

It's apple picking time, and we did just that! We spent some time outside picking apples! Each child had a sack of apple to take home. For our snack today we of course had cut up apples with dipping Carmel. Mmmm Yummy, and sticky!

We read a story about different types of apples, and the yummy things you make to eat with apples. We finally made necklaces with dried apples, and colored macaroni.

Our shape today was Hearts and Stars. Each of children received a Heart Stencil. We practiced tracing crayons around the heart stencil. Kiely loved her Heart stencil so much, she brought it back to class for the next 2 times, to show me how well she could trace hearts.

4 Year olds decorated "Oval" glasses

Shapes are fun and the children pick up on them quickly! We went on shape hunts, and sang or did a finger poem for each shape. We decorated each shape with fun paint, stickers, and paper.We loved tossing balls into boxes, throwing large fury dice threw a hula-hoop, and picking up eggs with spoons. Snacks where Oval shaped, sliced bananas, one day, while Square cheese with circled crackers for another. For the day of triangles, we ate triangle shaped sandwiches. Don't be surprised if your child starts seeing shapes around the house and yells them out! It's fun to see them search and recognise shapes in everyday objects.

A bit of a twist to any ol' easter egg hunt!

First Week of Preschool

It's fun for me and the children to meet and get to know new friends. We focused on rules and routines of preschool, forming lines, washing hands, sharing, taking turns etc. Self awareness, how we are different, and the same. How we are growing bigger, stronger, and older. And of course making new friends and how we should treat our friends.

We took turns shaking up pudding in a large jar!

And we ate animal cookies, dipped in pudding.

New Preschool Friends!!

Welcome to "Wee" Love Preschool 2009-2010

I am so excited for a new year of Preschool! My little 3 year olds from last year have returned and have grown up into helping 4 year olds! I have new 4 year olds to add to the mix along with some beginning 3 year olds!! I am happy to have these fun, lively children to entertain myself and each other, while learning fun and exciting things this year!

Alphabet Party

Everyone Loves A Party!!

This was a very anticipated party. The children were excited to play games and eat the treat they brought to share. The children brought treats that started with either their first or last name. We had fun, and yummy treats.

We played all the favorite games that we played throughout the year, such as, musical chairs, Duck Duck Goose, and Little Boy Blue.

We then sang all the fun and favorite songs that we learned throughout the year. Most of them we practiced for our program too. We used our fun decorations that we made especially for them. Last but not least we weighed and measured ourselves to see if we had grown since the beginning of the year. And of course we had to have our picture taken AGAIN!!!

Flowers and the letter "Z"

The children guessed that our puppet today would be a Zebra. Boy were they surprised to find out it was a Zipper!! We all then examined our own zippers. There were again fun things for show and tell such as many zebras stuffed and plastic. And a Zelda action card.
I introduced flowers with Zenas. We examined the seeds and talked about different types of flowers, and how some need more sun than others. We made a colorful large Zena for decoration with bright colored paper, plates and glue. The children then took an actual Zena Flower home to care for.
For Snack we had Zoo animal Crackers, and talked about going to the Zoo.

"Y" Insects especially Bumble Bees

It's coming to the end of the year. The children are really excited to put together their Alphabet books. They have been working real hard on each of the letters.

"Y" puppet was a ball of Yarn. Show and Tell consisted of many Yo-Yo's.

We wrapped Yellow Yarn around and around some cardboard, and made yarn balls to take home.

For snack we had Yogurt. Funny that either the children really liked it, or absolutely hated it.

We painted a Bumble Bee made from an egg create, and I put wings on them, and kept them for our Bumble bee song, we are going to sing at our end of year program. I have an actual Bee Hive I passed around for the children to look at and hold.

Mommies and Babies Letter "X"

The letter X is a some what hard letter to match anything or any word up with. We looked at a lot of words with the letter X in it. To make things more confusing, our puppet was a xylophone. Now the letter X in this case sounds like a Z. I did show the children a X-ray of my broken ankle, and another X-ray of my ankle after surgery. The children were amazed to see screws in my bones, and started calling me a robot and monster. (Boy are they learning how to tease!!!) I then had them trace their hands with white crayon onto black paper and draw bones to create their own X-rays. For a game, we tossed bean bags onto a Cross-A-Toss game. We got points for all the X's we could get.

Since Mother's Day is this Sunday, we talked about Mommies, and Babies. We matched up different baby animals with their mommies, and found out that they sometimes even have different names. We then made a fun Mother's Day magnetic Note Holder. We practiced lacing, and even learned how to wrap floral tape around a matching pen. I hope all you mother's love this creation, I know the children were excited to give this gift to you!!

Caterpillars and Butterflies Letter "W"

The letter W is one of those weird letters, that it's sound doesn't sound anything like the letter. However the children didn't disappoint on show and tell. We had a Wolf tee-shirt, Whale stuff animals, the X-Men's Wolverine poster, coloring book and stickers, and last but not least, a favorite was a Walgreen pen that each of the children got to keep (thanks Mathews Dad).

The puppet was no surprise, a Whale, and for a snack we got sticky eating Waffles.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle, was read today. And we looked at many pictures of different butterflies. We used our fingers to paint dots onto a large paper leaf to make a caterpillar. We then tried to punch holes into the leaf to look as if the caterpillar had eaten it (a difficult task because the hand muscles aren't quite strong enough yet). We then painted our hands to form wings and glued a head shot of ourselves to the wings. Our Butterflies were silly with our faces.
