Perfect time to talk about Winter!! We shared stories and ideas of things we can do during winter, and outside playing in the snow. Fun stories were read, "The Snow Day",and "All You Need For A Snowman".
The children were excited to make their own snowman with cotton, glue, paper, and a white crayon. After making snowmans, we thought hot chocolate and cookies would be an apporiate snack for winter time play. We also learned the importance of dressing for winter cold. The funny book, "A Hat For Minerva Louise" brought lots of laughter as we read about a chicken who tries to find something warm to wear, so she could go out in the snow.
Number Six was the number we talked about today. All children were given a 6 squared game card. We first put 6 sequence cards of how to build a snowman, in the correct order, then in the correct box 1-6. Each of the children received a die. Again we practiced our dot recognition with numbers by rolling the die and placing the die with the correct number. This is an excellent game the children can play by themselves.
We ended our day with fun action songs about building a snowman, and getting the right clothing on to play out in the snow.
